What Is AISI 4130 Fittings?

Unlike carbon steel, most alloy steel grades have better mechanical properties. They have a higher content of different elements like boron, manganese, nickel, sulphur, chromium, vanadium etc in their alloy. One such grade is AISI 4130 Fittings. The material has superior mechanical properties in comparison to carbon steel alloys. Low in carbon, the chemical composition of this alloy includes chromium and molybdenum as strengthening agents.

What Is Alloy Steel SAE 4130 Elbow Heat Treatment Process?

The alloy steel is heated at a temperature of 1600°F. After heating these fittings, the alloy will undergo quenching in oil. Forging takes place between 1750°F to 2200°F. The AISI 4130 Elbow can be hot worked at a range of 1500°F to 2000°F. If the alloy is to be formed, it has to be in an annealed condition. The annealing temperature is 1550°F, with subsequent air cooling at 900°F. Tempering the AISI 4130 Seamless Fittings increases its strength. This process takes place between 750°F to 1050°F. It is possible to harden the material with the use of heat treatment.
