By adding molybdenum and chromium to its chemical composition, the material exhibits good strength. Reasonable strength aside, UNS G41300 Fittings have good toughness, good fatigue strength, and decent resistance to atmospheric corrosion in moderately high-temperature environments.

The alloy steel is heated at a temperature of 1600°F. After heating these fittings, the alloy will undergo quenching in oil. Forging takes place between 1750°F to 2200°F. The AISI 4130 Elbow can be hot worked at a range of 1500°F to 2000°F. If the alloy is to be formed, it has to be in an annealed condition. The annealing temperature is 1550°F, with subsequent air cooling at 900°F. Tempering the AISI 4130 Seamless Fittings increases its strength. This process takes place between 750°F to 1050°F. It is possible to harden the material with the use of heat treatment.
