The ASTM A106 pipe of Grade B is a seamless carbon steel specification that works in high temperature services. ASTM A106 Grade B pipe is designed with a chemical composition of chromium, nickel, molybdenum, and other constituting alloys. The A106 pipe has excellent corrosion resistance properties and works well across different oxidative environments.

The ASTM A106 Gr.B Material is designed having excellent mechanical properties. This material has a minimum tensile strength of 60,000psi with a minimum yield strength of 35,000psi. A study on corrosion rate of SA 106 Gr B Seamless Pipe under marine environment

Corrosion is a phenomenon that is common in marine systems and cannot be avoided. The corrosion in marine environments is due to the presence of microbes that make a colony with other bacteria. A study on the ASTM A106 Grade B seamless pipe was performed to determine corrosion resistance in the material. The pipes were put in deep seawater with a salinity of 33%, and medium seawater having a salinity of 35%.

The result of the tests on the ASTM A106 Gr B seamless pipe stated that the maximum corrosion rate without bacteria after ten days was 0.5797mm. A similar test as that of the ASTM A106 gr b smls was performed on the ASTM A53 grade. The results stated that the ASTM A53 grade is more susceptible to corrosion than the A106b seamless pipe grade.
