The threaded pipe fittings are not suited for higher temperature conditions. These fittings are prone to corrosion and can crack under high pressure. It may be subjected to fatigue damage for cyclic services and has lower strength than its welded counterparts.

Some additive process includes stereolithographic, fused filament fabrication, and selective laser sintering methods.

The final stage is the thread rolling phase, which involves deforming the metal using dies. The process forms external threads on the surface of the metal stock. Internal threads can be formed using the same method.
