EN 31 Rod hardness is high as it gets supplied in the spheroidicity condition. It involves slowly heating the high carbon steel alloy with molybdenum and chromium to harden 800 to 820 C. And cooling the heated steel for a long time by quenching it in oil. Hence EN 31 steel hardness goes up to 63 HRC during different spheroidized conditions.
