Corrosion Resistance Hastelloy alloys are resistant to corrosion in a variety of settings, such as extremely acidic or chloride-containing environments. They are frequently picked for uses where having exceptional corrosion resistance is essential. Inconel alloys are well-known for their superior resistance to oxidation, high temperatures, and a variety of corrosive environments—especially reducing conditions.
Temperature Resistance Hastelloy alloys are a popular option for applications involving heat and corrosion issues, such as chemical processing and pollution control, because of their ability to tolerate high temperatures and harsh chemical conditions. Inconel alloys are appropriate for high-temperature applications, such as gas turbines and aerospace components, because they retain their strength and integrity at high temperatures.
Chemical Composition Conversely, Hastelloy alloys are composed of nickel, molybdenum, and chromium, with the amounts of these elements varying throughout grades. Tungsten or cobalt may be added to some Hastelloy grades to increase their strength and resistance to corrosion. Iron, nickel, and chromium are the main elements found in inconel alloys. Small concentrations of additional elements like niobium and molybdenum might also be present. The grade of Inconel alloy determines the exact composition.

While some grades have magnetic properties, others don’t have them.
