Monel Welding Rod is a high-performance alloy of copper and nickel (with a trace of silicon, iron, carbon, and manganese). Monel Welding Wire shows excellent resistance, high strengths to acidic and alkaline environments, good ductility, and good thermal conductivity.
These welding wire and rods comes in various grades such as Monel Filler Metal 67, Monel Filler Metal 60 and Monel Filler Metal 190. The number of these grades indicate the composition percentage ie Monel Filler Metal 67 come with 63% Ni, Monel Filler Metal 60 with 60% Ni, and Monel Filler Metal 190 with 67% Nickel content.

Monel 400 Welding Procedure
Monel 400 Welding Electrode is a nickel alloy that can be welded with the use of different methods such as shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), gas metal arc welding (GMAW), and gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW). It is known for its good weldability and can be easily welded by most traditional processes. But it is expensive and prone to lack-of-fusion (LOF) and cracking.
Monel 400 is generally welded through gas tungsten arc, submerged arc welding, and gas metal arc. In such cases, Monel filler metal 60 is sometimes used, which has the same corrosion resistance and high strength as Monel alloy. The welding procedure for Monel electrodes is similar to that of austenitic stainless steels and mainly does not need preheating or post-weld treatment. But it is necessary to clean the joint areas properly after welding to avoid contamination and embrittlement and to make sure optimal corrosion resistance. The material used should also be free from scaling before welding.

How to Weld Monel Alloys with Stainless Steel?
There are many welding methods can be used to weld Monel alloys with stainless steel such as GTAW and GMAW. But, as per the welders stainless steel should be welded using ER309 and ER309L filler metal. On other side, Monel welding should be done using ERNiCu-6 (Monel 60) and ERNiCu-7 (Monel 67).
