What is a Duplex Pipe?
Duplex Pipe Material is mix of austenite and ferrite stainless. These pipes contains 22% chromium, 5% nickel, and 3% molybdenum which make this alloy a best choice to use with corrosion resistance environments. Duplex Steel Pipes comes in 2 grades which are UNS S31803 and S32205. UNS S32205 Duplex Pipe has a little higher Tensile Strength but other side UNS S31803 Pipes are more cost effective.
These Duplex Stainless Steel Pipes are mainly used in marine sector and water desalination plants in form of seamless, welded, EFW, and ERW. Duplex Steel Seamless Pipe are supplied accordance to ASTM A789/A790. ASME SA 789/SA 790 specification is applicable If the material has to be use in boilers and pressure vessel. Furthermore, ASTM A928 is the American standard for Duplex Steel EFW Pipe.
EN 10216-5 standard Duplex Pipe can be ordered in different conditions such as solution annealed, quenched, or pickled.
