ASTM A516 Grade 70 Plate is made from carbon steel material. This grade is also known as boiler quality and specifically used to make pressure vessel. Under the ASTM A516 American standard SA 516 Gr 70 is the highest grade which has 620 MPa Tensile and 260 MPa Yield Strength. A516 Grade 70 Steel Plate have excellent weldability and can be weld using SMAW, GTAW, GMAW, and SAW Techniques. These SA516 Gr 70 Plates are suitable to weld through E7018 Electrode, ER70S-6 Welding Wire, and EM12K flux wire.
ASTM A516 Grade 70 Pressure Vessel material are supplied in form of sheet and plate. SA 516 Grade 70N means the plates are Heat treated and SA 516 Grade 70 are non-normalized or As Rolled material. ASTM A516 70N is preferred to use for superior toughness in extreme cold environments.
