A flange is used in a piping system to make sure that the piping connection is strong and is fitted without the need for welding so that it can be disassembled and reassembled as needed. There are different flanges to support the different requirements. The Reducing flange is a combination of a weld neck flanges and a reducer fitting. The flanges has an outer diameter and an inner diameter on the inlet and the outlet has a reduced inner diameter. The outlet side has a weld neck. So the flange can be fitted to another flanges on the end of the incoming pipe while the outlet can be connected to the outgoing pipe, making the connection an effective reducer.

These flanges can be made of any material and of different dimensions according to the specifications. The Brass reducing companion flanges can be used in piping systems that work with water lines. Threaded reducing flanges has threaded ends to be connected with the threaded ends of the pipes. While threaded ends are useful to install, the flanges have other finishes for various conditions. The stock flange finish is the most common. The spiral serrated finish has a spiral serration to hold the gasket in place. The concentric serrated finish is another type of serration. The smooth finish has a 63-125 AA finish. The cold water finish is done on flanges which can be installed without the need for a gasket.
