Sanitary Butterfly Valve

Sanitary Butterfly Valve

What Is Sanitary Butterfly Valve?

It is a type of flow control device, whose body, disc and actuators are produced from stainless steel alloys 304 or 316. They can either start or halt the flow of media transported through the piping system. As a quarter rotational type valve, the handle of a sanitary butterfly valve aids in the complete opening and closure of the device.

How Many Types Of Hygienic Butterfly Valve Are There?

There are three types of hygienic butterfly valves –

Zero Offset Butterfly Valves

Designed to solve the tightening problems between the disc and seat of the device, they are preferred for applications involving chemicals, food, coatings, some solids, and abrasive operations. The media that flows through the device will not be in contact with its body, because its seat covers the body.

Double Offset Butterfly Valves

In this device, the stem centre is produced at a deviation from the centre of the disc and valve. Along with reducing unnecessary over-compression, the abrasion is also reduced, increasing the work life of the valve. They are suited to high-temperature applications.

Triple offset butterfly valves

The design eliminates the occurrence of abrasion between the seat and seal ring through the flow path. This sanitary solutions butterfly valve has low torque and is can be used for both high and low-temperature applications.

How To Install Tri Clover Butterfly Valve?

The first step in installing a tri-clover butterfly valve, the device is to be placed between two preinstalled flanges. The bolt holes on the flanges need to be in alignment. Tighten the nut and bolts into the flange hole. The flange can be fixed by spot welding, after which the valve is removed. Once the flange has completely been welded and fixed on the pipeline. When the weld is cooled down, the valve is to be installed. During the installation, one has to leave sufficient space in the flange to prevent the device from getting damaged. A stainless steel sanitary butterfly valve can be attached with four bolts, with sufficient torque. Check the plate by opening the plate to ensure the movement is effortless.

Features & Benefits Of 3 Way Sanitary Butterfly Valve

Compared to the other valve types, a 3-way sanitary butterfly valve offers savings in terms of weight, space, and cost. The cost to maintain the device is also lower because they have lesser moving parts. Although they are suited to low-pressure service, the capacity to ferry across media is relatively high. And they can transport thick slurries that contain a higher amount of suspended solids. They are available in large sizes and are light in weight while being compact.
