What are Stainless Steel 316 Flanges?

A stainless steel 316 flange is a protruded rim or lip that connects valves, pipes, and other equipment.  Stainless steel 316 flanges  are designed with a chemical composition of 16% chromium, 10% nickel, and 2-3% of molybdenum. This gives th e 316 stainless steel flanges  superior corrosion resistance in different environments. These flanges provide support to different equipment. The  SS 316 flange  has tolerance to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride induced environments. The flanges have excellent stress rupture strength and are non-magnetic in the annealed condition.

The ss316 flanges are designed in different types. A  316 SS weld neck flange  is a strong metal that has a long protruding hub or face. These flanges have superior strength and enhanced performance.  ASTM A182 316 WNRF flange  is designed to operate in higher pressure and temperature conditions. The flanges are usually welded using butt welds.

The  Inox 316 SORF flange  can be easily slid on the pipe and welded using one or more fillet welds. These flanges are used in low pressure conditions. The  F316 stainless steel socket weld flange  has a unique installation process as the pipe is inserted in a socket and welded by applying a single fillet weld. The  SA 182 F316 blind flange  acts as a blank to terminate the flow of media in the system.

An  SA 182 Gr F316 threaded flange  has threads that allow them to align with subsequent threads. Threaded flanges are preferred in lower pressure applications.  SA182 F316 reducing flange  is employed to join piping equipment of dissimilar sizes. They ensure there is a gradual pressure drop. Are PN10 and PN16 SS 316 flange same?

PN10 and PN16 are the pressure nominal of the  ASTM A182 F316 flange.  The PN16 grade has higher pressure tolerance than the PN10 grade.

What is the difference between SS 316 lap joint flange and slip on flange?

The  A182 F316 lap joint flange  has a two piece assembly. Here a stub end and a ring type lap joint are placed over it. These flanges have bolt holes and can even be welded.  A182 Gr F316 slip on flange  is a versatile grade that can be slid on the piping material.
