Difference between Schedule 10/10S and Schedule 40/ 40S 316 stainless steel pipe
Schedules can be used to describe how thick a particular pipe wall is. A Schedule 10 316 stainless steel pipe is designed primarily to work where the stress on the system is low. The pipes have lower strength and can’t handle extreme conditions. A Schedule 40 316 stainless steel pipe can handle moderate pressure and temperature environments. These pipes have more strength than SCH 10 pipes.

Is 316 Stainless Steel Tube Corrosion Resistant?
The Stainless Steel 316 Tube offers outstanding resistance to corrosive media in different environments. The marine grade 316 Stainless Steel Tube has good tolerance to pitting and crevice corrosion across warm chloride conditions. It is also resistant to stress corrosion cracking above 60 degrees C. The 1.4401 Tube can be tolerant to potable water up to 1000mg/L chlorides at ambient temperatures. The AISI 316 tube also has excellent tolerance to intergranular corrosion in welds or the heat affected zones of the tubes. All in all the 316 SS seamless tubing is prone to rust when exposed to elements for long periods.
