What are Stainless steel seamless, erw and welded tube? Check size, price and process wise differences
A stainless steel seamless tube is manufactured by piercing hot steel billets through metal and precisely shaping it. These tubes have a long production process with a long procurement time. The cost of a seamless stainless steel tube is thereby higher due to the difficulties faced in manufacturing it. Their quality however compensates for the high price. Stainless steel tube manufacturers find it difficult to produce seamless tubes above 24 inches.
A Stainless steel erw tube is produced as metal is cold rolled and coiled in a cylindrical shape. A current is passed through the longitudinal seam to melt and weld it. The tubes don’t require any filler material and are cheaper than seamless tubes. The erw tubes can be availed in different sizes.
A Stainless steel welded tube is manufactured as steel strips, plates, or coils rolled in a circular shape using special machines. The tube can be welded with or without filler material in custom sizes and shapes. They cost less than seamless tubes, but the use of filler material will determine their price compared to erw tubes.
What Is Difference Between OD And ID? Is Stainless Tubing Measured By ID Or OD?
The outside diameter (OD) and the inside diameter (ID) can be differentiated based on the thickness of a wall. Thick wall stainless steel tube is used in structural applications and is measured by its outside diameter or ID or as ID and wall thickness.

What Is The Difference Between Leak Test And Pressure Test Of Stainless Tubing?
A leak test is used to test the pressure boundary of a Large diameter thin wall stainless steel tubing. The pressure test is performed to check whether the device can hold the pressure and maintain it for long periods. Pressure tests are performed 1.1 to 1.5 times the design pressure of the tube.

What Pressure Is Stainless Steel Tubing Rated For?
The pressure rating of tubing is based on its thickness, outside diameter, and stainless steel grade. A thin wall stainless steel tube is designed to handle lower pressures and has a considerably lower pressure rating. A robust Large diameter stainless steel tube can handle pressures above 35000 psi.

What Is Stainless Steel Spiral Tube And Its Uses & Advantages?
A Stainless steel spiral tube is a material that is constructed using a coil of prime metal into a spiral lock seam. The tubes are commonly seen in HVAC, ventilation, and spiral pipes. The major advantages of these pipes are that they are aesthetically appealing and are easy to install and maintain. These tubes are very versatile and have lower pressure drops.
