Hastelloy Plate was originally developed by HAYNES International. Hastelloy Sheet grades are divided into 2 categories which includes High-temperature Alloys and Corrosion-resistant. Hastelloy S and Hastelloy X Plate comes under High-temperature Alloys. On other side Hastelloy Plate grade B-3, C-4, C-22, C-2000, G-35, G-30 comes under Corrosion-resistant Alloys. During a six-week test of resistance to chloride-induced stress corrosion cracking, it was proven that the Hastelloy C22 Plate did not crack, while the 254SMO cracked within 24 hours.
These Hastelloy strips come with a high chromium content and a minimum of 60% nickel. Hastelloy sheets and coils can be polished to enhance surface corrosion resistance and for a smoother finish. Nickel-based Hastelloy Sheets are easy to recognize, as they have a metallic silver-gray color with a slight golden tint. These plates comes in a standard thickness of 3/16" to 3".
